Eclipsed legend Herve Filion as the all-time North American leading dashwinning driver in 2012, and within a few years is likely to pass German Heinz Wewering to become the winningest driver of all-time. Palone, raised near The Meadows, went to the track to see family horses race, gravitated to the business, and for almost 25 years has dominated one track as no North American driver ever has. Closing in on 16,000 career wins, Palone has led all North American drivers in victories four times, including last year (and is likely to have caught 2013 early leader Corey Callahan by the time you read this), and has been HTA’s Driver of the Year six times. A cooperative and well-spoken representative of the sport, Palone was named HHI’s Man of the Year last season upon breaking the “uncatchable” record of Filion.
